Brief Introduction

The College of Physical Education of Hubei Normal University began with the establishment of the Physical Education Teaching and Research Office in 1975. The Department of Physical Education was established in 1995 and was renamed as the College of Physical Education in 2008. There are currently three undergraduate majors in physical education, 1. Social Sports Guidance and Management, 2. Sports Training, and3. Sports Dance. There are two master's programs in Curriculum and Teaching Theory and Physical Education. There are three departments, namely the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Social Sports, and the Department of Sports Training, as well as the Department of Public Sports. There are also teaching and research departments in basic theory, athletics, ball games, sports arts, and traditional ethnic sports.

The college adheres to the motto of competition, cooperation and perseverance and pays close attention to the connotation construction. The College is the exemplary organization of sunshine sports in Hubei Province and the exemplary organization of implementing the regulations on school sports in Hubei province. Physical Education is a key supported discipline in the University and a provincial-level first-class undergraduate construction major.The Department of Public Sports is an excellent grassroots teaching organization in Hubei Province, and the teaching team of Ethnic Traditional Physical Education is a provincial-level excellent teaching team. We have 6 provincial-level first-class construction courses. A rehabilitation and health care teacher training center approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and practical training platforms such as Hubei Gymnastics Institute, Hubei Ethnic Traditional Sports Training Base, and Hubei Southeast Rehabilitation and Health Collaborative Innovation Center have been jointly established with Hubei Provincial Sports Bureau, Hubei Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission, and others.

The College has a well-structured and high-quality faculty team. Since 2019, relying on the Chutian Scholars Program and the “Cihu Scholars Program”, it has successively introduced professor Peter's group (a member of the American Academy of Sports Sciences), professor Toby Mundel's group from Brooke University in Canada, and a research group of physical health led by Dr. Yilin Wang, to continuously enrich its faculty.

The college always closely integrates education with disciplinary and professional construction, and has high quality of talent cultivation. It has won excellent results in various competitions at the national and provincial levels, such as the first prize in the National Competition on Basic Skills of PE Majors. Graduates are highly praised by employers for their solid professional foundation, outstanding professional skills, strong practical ability, and high comprehensive quality.
