Major 1: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics

Major 2: Information and Computing Science

Education objectives: This major aims to cultivate talents with good moral, scientific and cultural literacy, and a good mastery of the basic theories, methods and skills of mathematical science, who are able to use mathematical knowledge and information technology to solve practical problems, to update knowledge to cater for the needs of the development in computing science and information technology, and to engage in scientific research in mathematics and related fields or to engage in research, teaching, application development and management in the fields of science, education, information, economy and finance, and administration.

Skill profile: Graduates of this major shall be equipped with a solid mathematical foundation and good knowledge, quality and abilities in mathematical language expression, and algorithm design, analysis and implementation.

Education objectives: This major aims to produce inter-disciplinary talents through comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, who systematically grasp the basic theories and methods of statistics, who have relatively solid mathematical foundation, who can independently use computers and statistical software to model, analyze data and solve practical problems, and who can carry out statistical investigation, statistical information management and data analysis in government administrations, enterprises and public institutions and Internet companies, or who can conduct research in institutions of scientific research or education.

Skills Profile: Graduates of this major shall be equipped with basic skills in data collection, questionnaire design and data processing. Graduates shall be able to correctly make analysis and judgement of software calculation results based on statistical thinking, and to use statistical theory to analyze and solve practical problems in related fields.
