HBNU owns 1 State Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, 8 Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, 3 Provincial VR Experimental Teaching Centers, 2 Provincial key laboratories, 2 Provincial Engineering Research Centers (Engineering Laboratories), 4 Provincial Key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences, 1 Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center, 8 Provincial Graduate Education Innovation Bases (Workstations).

    In the past five years, HBNU has undertaken nearly 1,000 national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects and horizontal projects, winning more than 50 provincial and ministerial awards for the scientific research achievements. 19 provincial and ministerial and other scientific research platforms have been built. The teachers have published more than 300 academic monographs and textbooks, and more than 5,000 scientific research papers, of which more than 1,000 have been indexed by SCI and other three major indexes. The University was awarded such titles as Model Organization for Science and Technology Services in Hubei and Model Organization for Science and Technology Progress.
