There are five undergraduate programs in the School of Educational Science, Pedagogy, Applied Psychology, Preschool Education, Primary Education and Inclusive Education, and the total number of undergraduates amounts to over 1200. We offer five directions for research master's degree: Pedagogy Principles, Curriculum and Teaching Theories, Higher Education, Inclusive Education, and Teacher Education. Still, there are four streams for taught master's degree: Education Management, Primary Education, Mental Health Education, and Preschool Education. There are 282 full-time MA students at our school for the time being.
Since 2011, our school has been approved to grant master's degree in the first-level discipline of education, and in 2013 and 2014, it was approved to grant master's degree and taught Master's degree of Education respectively. The Pedagogy discipline is one of the highlights in our school. It was rated as the key provincial programme in 2012, approved as the advantageous characteristic discipline group among all the universities in Hubei Province in 2015, and selected as the Domestic first-class discipline in 2018.
The School has 70 staff members, including 56 full-time teachers, 6 Professors, 16 Associate Professors, 27 Doctors, 1 provincial key discipline leader, 2 Academic leaders at the university level. Among the teachers, there are 29 master tutors. Moreover, we hired 36 excellent teachers in primary and secondary schools as Practice mentors for our undergraduates and MA students.
We have a bunch of labs for multiple educational purposes, such as lab for Montessori education, lab to provide comprehensive and practical training that is required for preschool education, labs for basic psychology and psychological assessment, room for Wechsler intelligence test, and so on. More importantly, we have established 40 bases for practice and training in kindergartens, primary, secondary schools, educational administrative departments, and even some enterprises.
The school of Educational Science is student-centered, actively carries out professional construction, curriculum construction and teaching research, and continuously devoted to upgrading the level of professional education and the quality of personnel training. Undoubtedly, our efforts have bear rich fruits. So I will just name a few here. In terms of professional construction, the primary education programme was included by the provincial collaborative education project in 2018, rated as provincial first-class professional constructive discipline in 2019, later rated as the national first-class professional constructive discipline in 2020. Moreover, the Pedagogy discipline was approved as provincial first-class professional constructive programme in 2022. Well, all these achievements should give credit to out outstanding faculty. They made a great contribution to the academic research and won numerous national and provincial prize for HBNU.
In 2019, our school has a provincial leveled science and technology innovation team and the university-level scientific research innovation team. We also have a number of research platforms such as Hubei Regional Education Modernization Research and Evaluation Center, Basic Education Research Institute, Higher Education Research Institute, Psychological and Behavioral Science Research Institute, and Education Evaluation Research Center. Our faculty has undertaken more than 80 scientific research projects at all levels, including the National Social Science Fund project, the National Education Science Planning project, and the Humanities and Social science project approved by Ministry of Education.
Our School attaches great importance to the development and cultivation of international perspectives of faculty and staff. In recent years, we have actively supported teachers to study abroad, participate in international academic conferences, and pursue doctoral degrees. In recent years, the school has organized a series of international academic exchange activities regarding Psychology and Education. We hired well-known scholars in this field to give lectures in our school. And we also encourage students to go out to study and exchange, and initiatively seek overseas cooperation to jointly train promising talents with foreign universities.
