Work handover went smoothly between Chinese directors of the Northern Ireland Confucius Institute at Ulster University (CINIUU)

A meeting concerning the work handover between two Chinese Directors of CINIUU, co-established by Hubei Normal University (HBNU) and Ulster University (UU), was held in conference room 7521 of the International Office on the morning of August 30. Vice President Yu Xiang of HBNU attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

During the meeting, Che Lubin, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute for 2021-2023, made a work report from several aspects, including the current basic situation and operation of the CINIUU, work achievements during his tenure, reflections and suggestions. The next  Chinese Director, Liu Xingchi gave an inaugural speech conveying his commitment to strengthen Chinese language education and spread Chinese culture in Northern Ireland during his tenure from 2023 to 2025. Subsequently, the former Director transferred working documents to his successor.

At the end of the meeting, Vice President, Yu Xiang delivered a concluding speech. He restated that the CINIUU, as a bridgehead for international cooperation and exchange of HBNU, not only undertakes the important mission of promoting Chinese language education and cultural exchange but also serves as an important link for international cooperation and exchange between the HBNU and UU, as well as other universities in the region. The smooth handover of the Chinese director plays an important role in the inheritance and innovation of the work of Confucius Institutes in our university. Yu Xiang placed high expectations on the new Chinese Director, Liu Xingchi, and hoped that he would create a brand new situation and gain new achievements in a new starting point. In addition, Yu Xiang put forward work requirements for the International Exchange Department to better serve the ultimate mission of coordinating and comprehensively improving international exchange and cooperation in HBNU.
