Prof. Tom Maguire Visits HBNU

On April 8, Professor Tom Maguire, Dean of the Arts and Humanities School at Ulster University (UU), UK, visited Hubei Normal University (HBNU). The International Exchange Division of HBNU held an organized welcome ceremony and a university-level symposium attended by the Heads of the Schools of Education Sciences, Foreign Languages, and Music, as well as relevant teachers and staff of HBNU. In the afternoon, Professor Maguire visited the School of Music and held a special exchange meeting for art professionals.

 


Jiang Guo, Director of the International Exchange Department, extended a warm welcome to Professor Maguire, briefly introduced the basic situation of our university and the international exchange and cooperation work, and reviewed the long history of friendly exchanges between the two universities. Subsequently, he presided over a symposium on the docking of the school, which was attended by relevant leaders and teacher representatives from the School of Education Science, the School of Literature, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of Music. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on teacher exchange visits, student joint training, and short-term study Tours, carried out detailed consultations on the implementation of some projects, and reached a lot of consensus.

In the afternoon, Professor Maguire went to the Conservatory to participate in a special exchange activity for art majors. He first visited the Water Lotus Grand Theatre and the 50th-anniversary achievement exhibition and observed the teaching of Chinese folk dance, opera rehearsal, band rehearsal, and other courses at the Conservatory of Music. Later, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the academic exchange, student joint training, and curriculum sharing between the School of Humanities and Arts at Ulster University and the School of Music at HBNU.

Professor Maguire spoke highly of this visit and looked forward to future cooperation between the two sides. He said that after the end of the visit, he will coordinate the forces of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts at Ulster University as soon as possible to jointly promote the consensus of this exchange and cooperation and implement specific exchange projects.
