In June 2017, the Ministry of Education issued the “Notice on the Announcement of the Registration List of Country and Regional Research Centers in 2017” (Jiaowaisizong [2017] No. 1377), officially approving and registering the “UK Research Center” submitted by our university, marking a significant breakthrough in our international issues research. The center will integrate internal and external resources, leverage talent advantages, and build the “UK Research Center” into a substantive platform for comprehensive research on the UK in accordance with our university’s internationalization plan and its own development needs. Currently, the center has nearly 30 researchers and over 10 specially appointed experts from both domestic and foreign backgrounds.
Center Orientation: The center’s primary goal is to provide consultancy services for UK-related issues, enhance our university’s ability to serve national and local economic construction, development, and cooperation and exchanges. It aims to promote the development of our disciplines, talent cultivation, and the quality of international education through the medium of Chinese and English language and culture teaching and research.
Development Goals: By integrating academic research, talent cultivation, and foreign cooperation and exchanges, the center strives to become a national think tank integrating academic research, policy consultation, and internationalization of education, as well as a UK regional research center with distinctive characteristics.
Development Plan: The center will focus on the national “Belt and Road” initiative, the promotion of Chinese language internationalization, and the development layout of country and regional research. It will organize and apply for research projects related to the UK in relevant disciplines, targeting cutting-edge developments and significant theoretical and practical issues. The center aims to produce innovative achievements, promote the coordinated development of basic and applied research, and establish academic reputation and influence in regional research.
