Professor Paul Connolly, Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University leading his team, consisting of 19 students and teachers visited our university From October 28 to 30.
Multiple impressive cultural learning and interactive events were well-prepared and successfully fulfilled to promote mutual understanding and communication. President Lei Rujin and Vice President Yu Xiang from Hubei Normal University warmly greeted the visiting guests and partook in related activities.
On the afternoon of October 29, we held a grand welcome ceremony in Conference Room 505 of the Science and Technology Building. Prof. Yu Xiang, Vice President, on behalf of the school, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the basic situation of Hubei Normal University. He restated the importance of international education, and spoke highly of the Confucius Institute jointly established by our University and the Ulster University in Northern Ireland in 2011, the construction and development of the Confucius Institute have made great contributions to the cultural exchanges between the two regions. Prof. Yu Xiang further proposed that the two universities should carry out short-term student exchange programs of 2 to 4 weeks, and gradually promote more extensive cooperation and exchanges such as joint training of students and mutual visits of teachers between the two universities. The two sides reached a consensus on this proposal.
We carefully arranged comprehensive Chinese language, traditional Chinese art, and other Chinese cultural experience courses so as to leave profound and unique memories for the visiting delegation. In addition, the first China-UK student Exchange Salon was held at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at Hubei Normal University. The collision and fusion of Chinese and British traditional Musical Instruments, singing, music, folk art performance, and so on not only deepens the friendship between the two universities but also injects new vitality into the cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the UK, which is of great significance to the training of talents with international vision and cross-cultural communication skills in our university.
This wonderful visit and inspiring interactions not only strengthened the ties between the two universities but also laid a more solid foundation for future cooperation. We look forward to more fruitful exchanges and cooperation between the two universities shortly.
