David Malcolm, Permanent Secretary of Northern Ireland Executive Office, Visits CLEC

On March 21, David Malcolm, Permanent Secretary of the Northern Ireland Executive Office, led a delegation to visit the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC). The delegation included Chris Hazzard, Member of the UK Parliament; Kerry Curran, Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau in China; Liu Yan, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute for Northern Ireland at Ulster University; and representatives from Hubei Normal University. Yu Yunfeng, Director of CLEC, and Liu Jianqing, Deputy Director, met with the delegation.

Both sides agreed that Northern Ireland has a strong foundation and great potential in Chinese language education. They pledged to continue close cooperation in providing high-quality Chinese teaching services to more local schools. Efforts will include supporting the establishment of Chinese teacher training programs, continuing professional development for Chinese language teachers, and inviting more young people from Northern Ireland to study and visit China. Together, these initiatives aim to promote the high-quality development of Chinese language education in Northern Ireland.
