Good news has recently come from the Ministry of Education: the application for the extension and revision of the undergraduate program in Electronic Information Engineering jointly launched by Hubei Normal University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA, has been officially approved. This marks that the Sino-foreign cooperative education program has entered a brand-new stage of development.
Since enrollment was launched in 2021, the program has been steadily advanced in strict compliance with relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education. Under the overall leadership of the University Party Committee, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation takes the lead, collaborating with relevant functional departments and the host school. The university has established an efficient and smooth regular communication mechanism with the overseas partner university. Through the Joint Management Committee, key tasks including the optimization of talent training programs, teaching quality monitoring, faculty co-development and student management are discussed on a regular basis. By deeply integrating high-quality educational resources from both China and the United States, a talent training system featuring an international vision and local academic standards has been established. With steady and orderly teaching operation and continuous improvement in talent training quality, the program has won wide recognition from teachers, students, parents and all sectors of society.
The revisions approved this time are of substantial value, injecting new momentum into the long-term development of the program. The Ministry of Education has approved the adjustment of the program’s enrollment period from the original 2021–2025 to 2021–2031, and the validity period of the approval document has been extended synchronously from December 31, 2029 to December 31, 2035. This provides a solid policy guarantee for the sustainable and stable operation of the program and enables more students to access high-quality international educational resources. A major highlight is the newly added overseas degree-awarding qualification of the program: students who fulfill the graduation and degree requirements of Hubei Normal University, meet the training standards of the program, and complete one year of study at Fairleigh Dickinson University will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree by the U.S. partner university, along with an undergraduate graduation certificate and a bachelor’s degree certificate from Hubei Normal University for general higher education. This significant upgrade has greatly enhanced the program’s competitiveness in school-running and opened up broader prospects for students’ further academic study and international employment.
As full recognition by the Ministry of Education of the quality of Sino-foreign cooperative education at Hubei Normal University, the approval of the program’s extension and upgrade embodies the fruitful outcomes of years of solid cooperation between the two universities. Going forward, taking this revision as a new starting point, the university will further deepen all-round cooperation with Fairleigh Dickinson University, continuously optimize talent training programs, strengthen the connotative development of teaching quality, highlight the international characteristics of the program, and strive to build it into a benchmark brand for Sino-foreign cooperative education. It will keep contributing to cultivating more high-quality applied talents with an international vision, cross-cultural communication competence and innovative practical capabilities, and promoting the high-quality development of the university’s international education undertakings.
